How I use AI
I use AI as a tool, an assistant. I don’t blindly ship AI-generated content. I’m personally accountable for every word, number, and design decision on this site — the same as if I’d done it all by hand. If there is something wrong here, that’s on me, and I’ll fix it.
Why even have this page?
AI is a polarizing topic. One that is increasingly being forced upon people that don’t want it. It’s also being used to generate poor quality content and being passed off as human-generated. In my work I explore AI tools as a means to teach myself skills, check my work, accelerate engineering work, help me document, and otherwise assist me like an apprentice might. I’m not interested in passing “slop” off as my own. This is a new and powerful tool, and like all tools, it can be used poorly, or it can be used in a genuinely beneficial and powerful way.
What I never do
- Publish a claim, spec, measurement, or schematic I haven’t personally verified.
- Present AI-generated images as real photos.
- Let AI take the lead and make the engineering judgment calls — that’s my job.
How I mark it
Where AI meaningfully shaped a piece, I add a short note at the bottom saying what it did and what I did. Routine spell-check and phrasing help isn’t worth cluttering every page over — I flag it where it actually matters.
